Kahlo, Frida: Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) was a surrealist portrait painter from Mexico who often used her own self-portrait to express her personal pain and feelings of sexuality. Some paintings, like Two Fridas depicted the split feelings that she had, after her divorce, one the person who her husband respected, and the European influenced Frida, whom Diego abandoned.

Kandinsky, Wassily: Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian Painter who has been credited with being the first artist to produce the first modern abstract art. He was part of a group of artists called Der Blaue Reiter, which produced highly rhythmic masses of color between 1911 and 1914. In the 1920's and early 30's he taught at an art and archetectual design school called the Bauhaus, and spent the last 10 years of his life in Paris.

Keating, Sean: Sean Keating (1889-1977) was an Irish Romanic Realist Painter who focused on the revolutionary period of Ireland. He studied at the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin. In 1916 he began a series of paintings documenting the war of independence and the civil war. His art is considered to be idealized realism, for his subjects look heroic and have allegorical stories within their borders.

Kinetic Art: An Art style that began around 1913, but was popularized in the 1950's and 1960's, kinetic art includes any art with moving parts, including mobiles, powered by wind or motors.

Klee, Paul: Paul Klee (1879-1940) was a Swiss painter who lived in Germany and was highly influenced by the Expressionists, Cubists, and Surrealist artist movements. He wrote extensively on color theory, and taught at the Bauhaus with his friend Wassily Kandinsky. He worked in a variety of different media, including oil paint, watercolor, ink, pastel, and etching, often combining them in one piece of art.

Klimt, Gustav: Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian painter who was part of the Symbolist and the Vienna Art Nouveau movements. He concentrated on painting the female body in erotic scenes and overtly sexual scenes. His later works consisted of the same erotic scenery, but covered in phallic-shaped, gold-leaf paint. His work upset the establishment considerably, and was not offered any public commissions after 1899.

Kline, Franz: Franz Kline (1910-1962) was an American Abstract Painter who was part of the 'action painter' group. His art focused less on images and more on brush strokes and movements on the canvas. He spent many years working in black and white, and only re-introduced color in the mid-1950's. He died of rheumatic heart disease at the age of 52.
