Lio is a male Carcalian. He has orange fur covering his back, arms, and legs, the sides and back of his neck, his muzzle, forehead, outer ears, and tail. His belly is a pale yellow, as are his hands, feet, the front portion of his neck, and face below his eyes. His mane, which is shoulder-length, like all males, is sandy yellow with streaks of orange, blonde and brown. Because he is only six years old, he has only mated once. After every successful mating season, when they revert to their short height, both genders\' head hair darkens as an indication of their experience.
At the age of fifteen, the mating cycle ends, their hair remains black, and they are forever metamorphosized. The first mating period is the most traumatic on the body. The three and a half foot males grow to be five feet ten inches high. Their chests, biceps, legs, and back triple in muscle mass. The abdominal muscles ripple into a twelve pack, with three columns and four rows of ripped muscle! Their claws turn black and grow to be an inch long. Their sense of smell becomes extremely acute and the only thing they can think about is the need to fight.
Female Carcalians also metamorphosize into larger and fiercer versions of themselves, growing to be five foot, six inches tall. They also grow long, retractable claws, bushy hair on their heads, rounded hips, and a pair of rounded breasts over their upper teats. They pick out several potential mates to fight in the ring for the right to reproduce. The winner takes the female upstairs to the loft to recover from the fight and to copulate.
While the mating itself is the perfect balance to the trauma, the most devastating thing is the change in appearance. Their facial features elongate, ears lengthen, canine teeth grow, and their muzzles extend. Males get an abundance of facial hair, and females go through the pain of growing wide hips and a pair of breasts in minutes. It is a horrific sensation!
After mating week is over, the males revert to normal and go about their lives. The females that mate have a 100% pregnancy rate, lasting six weeks. After conception, the females grow three more pairs of breasts so they may suckle up to eight pups at a time, which is a typical litter size. Tigren babies have a separate area where they are all collected and shipped by coach to the Tigren Academies. Mature females over the age of fifteen, able to produce milk without pregnancy, travel with the Tigren babies and stay with the Tigrens until they wean off from milk. Mature females secrete a hormone that allows their breasts to produce milk, if a baby begins suckling. Otherwise, their hormones are dormant. The female Carcalians revert to normal after their Carcalian pups wean off milk at six months.
In the nation of Raoolia, the females raise the pups until they are two years old and then the father teaches them the family business for three years. Afterward, the cubs move out of their father\'s house and go to work in the family business. Females can choose to mate or they can stay home during that week, remaining secluded while their hormones run wild. The other nations have individual practices, depending on their individual cultures.
